Walk in DC - 27 May

Walked for over an hour in my old neighborhood in Washington, DC. A warm night out, but nice to look at the historic rowhouses, flowers, and very interesting people, some looking shifty and conducting questionable business transactions in the shadows. So I said "hello" to the congressmen and lobbyists, and kept walking...

Stopped for a glass of wine with Deedee, a very beautiful, very smart friend Dan and I are blessed to know. Then, finished the walk and came home. Exercise is not so bad if you stop halfway for a glass of wine with a beautiful blonde...

Dan played volleyball for a couple of hours, as he has for most Tuesdays for the last umpteen years. He said he was "ruthless", and I don't doubt it.

Two States, Two Walks- 26 May

Was home visiting family in Central Texas over Memorial Day. Went to the Cameron Park Zoo in Waco, Texas. Waco is a fairly small city-- a little over 113,000 people (http://waco.areaconnect.com/statistics.htm) and it takes a lot of wherewithal to keep up a nice zoo. Waco does a very good job. The weather was a little warm, but there was a nice breeze. Walked with family for about an hour and a half or so, but it was a slow stroll.

Back in the DC area tonight. Walked 80 minutes in Arlington, VA at a brisk pace. The scale isn't pretty, but it is not as bad as I thought it would be.

20 May - Another Walk

Walked 60 minutes in neighborhood. Beautiful, cool night. Little traffic. Very nice. Working my way back up to a slow jog by next week.

Walking for Now

Beautiful weather in the DC area-- some rain here and there, but very nice temperatures. Walked 90 minutes on Saturday, and 75 minutes today. Very nice. Enjoying it before the muggy, hot summer weather hits.

School's Over- 11 May 2008

With only a day or two left of graduate class, I can get back to working out. Schedule has taken it's toll on fitness. Worked out for the first time in several weeks tonight. Walked 20 minutes, ran 4 minutes at an 8 minute/mile pace, repeated that again, and then walked a final 20 minutes. I want to try to gradually replace the walking with running at an 8 minute/mile pace over the next few weeks. Sort of an interval training set. It seems to get the heartrate up better than previous workouts.

We went to Rasika last night. It is Indian cuisine. Some of the best in the DC area. I'm not a huge fan of Indian food, but it was very, very good.
